Worshiping God

Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. [Psalm 29:2]

Ever noticed folks' ideas about worship? Some don't believe and just don't care. Some believe but don't read God's Bible, so they don't really know how to worship Him. Some people approach worship the way they shop - with a consumer's mindset: "if I don't get what I want - amusement, current events - then forget it, worship must be personally relevant." Sort of like fast-food religion; this may work for hamburgers, but not with God.

What happens when we ask God how He wants to be worshiped? A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? ...For I am a great King," [Malachi 1:6, 14]

In Samaria, Jesus said, "the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." [John 4:23-24]

So worship is not about us; it is totally about God. God decides what is reverent ... and relevant. What's not to love about accepting the simplicity and beauty of God's holiness, worshiping Him in spirit and truth, and rejoicing in that?
